 Negative publicity for brands or companies , viral memes, parodies, sarcasm are all problems for large brands

Cultural impact - proliferation of social media cultural imperialism and promotion/obsession with celebrity culture and commodities

Identify two ways social media can contribute to anti social behavior

1. Some people can get really obsessed with getting too many likes and followers and end up doing stupid thing for views and don't care what people think of them, for example the youtuber logan paul recorded a dead body in the forest and uploaded it onto his youtube channel


2. Another reason is a person obsessed about their body image who do everything they can do get a better physique, for example they skip out on social events such as going out to eat with friends because they don't wanna get fat

In the US 10 million teens had not had Coca Cola on the preceding year, so Coca Cola imported the globally successful share a coke campaign to increase its sales and make a personal connection with US teenagers. Two elements differentiated this campaign from others in the category. First packaging became incredibly important piece of owned media. Second the hashtag share a coke created a depth and breadth of content and ways for teens to get involved and use the functionality of social media to amplify the idea. The result was that 1.25 million more teens tried a coke during the following summer and sales of participating Coca Cola packages rose by a phenomenal 11% in the US.
